Making Orofino A Safer Place To Be {READ} - November 2009
CSAW (Clearwater Substance Abuse Workgroup) focuses on bringing information and prevention to the Clearwater Valley. CSAW community spotlight this month is the Orofino Police Department. Using the Clearwater County Fair and Lumberjack days as a kickoff, the Orofino Police Department began zero tolerance for open container violations (Orofino City Ordinance 6-1-50). This means that every person contacted in the City Limits of Orofino that had an open container of alcohol on a public street or sidewalk was and will be at least cited for the misdemeanor offense.

Learn to be a partner in prevention of underage drinking by joining other caring adults, parents, teens and community leaders for a presentation by Amy Bartoo of Idaho Drug Free Youth Feb. 25. "i2i--Seeing Eye to Eye on the Issues" will be presented following a free dinner Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 6 p.m. at Orofino Junior High School.
CSAW Website Has New Focus {READ} - September 2009
CSAW (Clearwater Substance Abuse Workgroup) launched a new web site in August. Members have pledged themselves to preventing and reducing substance abuse in Clearwater County. The “It's Not O.K” logo is used to compliment information about substance awareness, especially the theme Underage Drinking … It's Not O.K. A new feature is our “Spotlight Corner,” which currently lists a parent alert about morning glory seeds. Students are purchasing these seeds in garden sections of stores, but not for what you think. Visit our web site to find out more. You will also be able to explore our parents' corner, news and media, a community calendar, and local resources.
